Prof. dr. Maja Göpel (1976) is politiek econoom en expert op het gebied van duurzame veranderingen in de samenleving. Ze was secretaris-generaal van de German Advisory Council on Global Change en was tot juli 2021 onderzoeksdirecteur van The New Institute in Hamburg, waar ze zich bezighield met veranderingsonderzoek. Ze is lid van the Club of Rome, the World Future Council, the Balaton Group, the German Bioeconomy Council en is medeoprichter van Scientists for Future Initiative.
